I spent two years in South India doing multi-sited research for my dissertation on technology transfer and subsistence farmers. This meant that I spent time researching scientists in their labs as well as silk-farmers, weavers and reelers who were involved in a World Bank project to "modernize" the silk industry. I was interested in issues of power, justice and representation in development through tech transfer.

My current areas of interest continue to revolve around the intersection of social justice and the environment. To this end I am currently engaged in research on the political ecology of a SuperFund clean up in Brooklyn, NY. I am looking at the interplay between government, state, and community stakeholders with a focus on the waterway as both product and agent of newly created urban environments.
