Mr. Hutchins has over 40 years’ experience in the public and private sector, and over 30 years in process engineering, environmental, and health and safety activities. He is currently a primary mentor/professor at SUNY Empire State College along with being a lecturer (Toxicology Research Center/Atlantic OSHA Training Center) at SUNY University at Buffalo. His prior work experiences are as follows: global manager of process engineering activities for Delphi Harrison Thermal Systems (now Delphi Corporation). These activities focused on developing new Bill of Process manufacturing chemical processes that included Design in Safety initiatives to meet various health, safety and environmental requirements and regulations. He achieved two international patents for new manufacturing process design operations. He received the General Motors Corporation “Boss” Kettering award for automotive process design excellence for one of his patents. Mr. Hutchins has had previous work experiences with the Illinois Geological Survey as a coal chemist, as a high school chemistry teacher and as a formulation chemist with a large fertilizer, and pesticide manufacturer.
The American Board of Industrial Hygiene certified Mr. Hutchins in the comprehensive practice of Industrial Hygiene and Safety. He is also a Diplomat of the American Academy of Industrial Hygiene. Additionally the Board of Certified Safety Professionals certified him in the comprehensive practice of safety engineering. He also completed a certification in Business Administration from the American Management Association.
Mr. Hutchins has served as Chairman of both the Niagara Frontier Air Pollution and Waste Management Association as well as the Western New York American Industrial Hygiene Association. Currently, he is the Chairman of the Western New York G9 Management Organization. He is also very activity in various civic community activities.
