Lue Turner is an Assistant Professor of Community and Human Services and a member of the Child & Family Studies Department. She earned a Bachelor’s in Family Science (minor: Psychology) and a Master’s in Marriage & Family Therapy from Brigham Young University. She also obtained a Ph. D. in Marriage & Family Therapy from Iowa State University. She has experience working with individuals, couples, and families in the therapy room. Lue came to Empire State College in 2008 specializing in family studies. She teaches many studies that incorporate relationships, family systems, counseling and therapeutic skills, family intervention, and family life & community education. She also has interests in other topics such as grief and loss, and trauma and healing. Lue’s latest project incorporated research regarding community healing from trauma (natural disasters) using quilts, an art form, as a medium. In the past, Lue has presented at the Student Wellness Retreat, as well as local Rochester education days.
